How Summer League Points/Rating Works
Players start with a rating based on their level (e.g., 3.5 = 3500, 4.0 = 4000). After each match, ratings are updated using an Elo system.
Formula:
New Rating=Old Rating+K×(Actual−Expected)
Actual = 1 for a win, 0 for a loss
Expected = probability of winning based on rating difference
K-factor = controls how much ratings move
K-Factor:
Weeks 1–8: K = 48 (higher movement to adjust rankings quickly)
Weeks 9–18: K = 32 (lower movement for stability)
These may be adjusted before league starts depending on skill gap
How it works in practice:
Beating a higher-rated player results in a larger point gain
Beating a lower-rated player results in a small gain
Losing to a higher-rated player results in a small loss
Losing to a lower-rated player results in a larger loss
Each match counts as a single result (win or loss), and only completed matches are included. Rankings are updated weekly based on current ratings.
